NEW CLASS: Gentle w/ IyengarNYC online-only

From Monday, October 14th 2024 to January 27th 2025: I’ll be teaching an online-only Gentle class for the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York. It runs weekly on Mondays from 11:30am-1:00pm. I am so excited to add this class to my schedule as it’s a type of class I love to teach.

Additionally, I teach a very similar class locally in New Hampshire on Tuesdays 12:00-1:00pm at Bending Bodhi Yoga in downtown Dover. This class is in-person only.

It’s been on my mind how to explain what these classes are and what they offer the practitioner. Here are a few elements that I think make these Gentle Iyengar Yoga classes so special:

The class is moderately paced: We will move, but not too quickly. There will be standing poses, but often with the support of the wall or a chair. There will be postures that help you open up and relax, but we aren’t gonna nap the whole time. Moderate! Gentle, but penetrating.

You will learn: What we work on in class can be applied to any other yoga classes or movement practices you do. You will learn how to practice Yoga asanas in a way that is in relationship with your body and how it changes season-by-season.

It’s the perfect entry point: If you have been away from your practice for a while, come back with this class. You won’t be overwhelmed. If you are dealing with new complications, injuries or limitations, come to this class and let’s go gently into moving the body in a way that feels supportive and safe. You’ve never done Yoga but your doctor tells you it would be good for you? Come, grab some blankets to sit on, and I’ll start at the very beginning.
