from New York to New England

Hello dear students! We’re moving to New England!

Next week we’re packing up our apartment on Riverside Drive and are moving to Dover, New Hampshire, which is in the Seacoast Region of Southern New Hampshire, about an hour north of Boston. If you’ve been in class with me recently this is not news to you.

I’m looking forward to the changes — spooky-cute New England Autumns, living in a house, being close to mountains, lakes, and the ocean. I’ve been told that I will “pass” as a New Englander easily. My indifference to sports teams should help but I’ll need to get my old LL Bean duck boots from my parents basement to be sure.

I’ll get some in-person classes going as soon as possible. I need to learn to drive first. As far as I know, there are only ten other Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers in the state of New Hampshire. A great gift of pandemic times is the online yoga classes that will continue on as usual, including my online class with the Iyengar Institute of NY, where I’ll remain on faculty. I’ll have a whole “room of one’s own” from which to teach and practice in. It’s been freshly painted “Icy Lemonade” and I’m looking forward to the presentation of my online classes being that much better.

With time in NYC coming to a close, I’ve been squeezing in a few more Broadway shows with friends, making sure to enjoy some fresh bagels, getting weepy-eyed at the Iyengar Institute, and I’ve been known to sigh nostalgically in my favorite neighborhoods. New York City will never get rid of me completely though. I’m hoping to come into the city regularly to see private students, practice with my teachers in-person, and see friends and family.

Onwards! Goody Lisa 😉
