Lisa Kazmer, Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher

I am so happy and proud to share that I passed my Level 1 assessment! I am now a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher! It’s been such a fulfilling process. I am so grateful to all the wonderful teachers I have had the opportunity to study with especially my mentor; Matt Dreyfus for his time, energy, and steady support, to communities of fellow Iyengar Yoga students around the world I’ve studied alongside and my students who have trusted me as their teacher. I am also so grateful to have my husband, Eric by my side; supporting me in the choice to pursue a subject so deeply. And thanks to my parents for letting me go to college for dance where I learned my first handstand and things started to shift. Onwards!

Iyengar Yoga is a system of Yoga based on the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar; rooted in the traditional wisdom and philosophy of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. This method places emphasis on precision; precise action, right effort, timing, and sequencing in order to align the body, mind, breath, and spirit of the practitioner. Teachers of Iyengar Yoga use methods of clear communication; such as language and demonstration in order to impart these elements onto the student. In introductory classes there is an emphasis on standing poses from which the principles of all the other asanas emerge. Inversions such as Sālamba Śīrsāsana (headstand) and Sālamba Sarvāngāsana (shoulderstand) are a vital part of Iyengar Yoga. Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers are trained to modify the yoga postures for individual student needs helping students of all ages and conditions through a rewarding yoga experience.

Join me for livestream Iyengar Yoga classes Monday at 5:30pm EST and Friday at 10:30am EST via Zoom in a safe, supportive, and friendly online environment.
