Spring Greetings! I hope this note finds you well. I’m sitting here at my desk munching on some freshly picked Mulberries as the sun begins to set. I was happy to come upon two massive trees right near my apartment here in NYC on a walk with my dog a week ago and have been plucking small harvests from the tree for the last couple days. These sweet delicate berries are ripe for such a short amount of time that it feels particularly special to savor their flavor. Finding this connection to nature within the city limits is, to me, what keeps urban life feeling sustainable and balanced. It often just requires some curiosity and openness. Yoga prepares us for just that — try riding the vibe of your next yoga practice by noticing something new on your journey home after class while you are especially receptive. So, in case we aren’t connected on social media or I haven’t seen you in class lately I’m happy to share that I’m back in New York City for good now. This means getting my yoga teaching schedule up and running, which always takes a little time. I’ve finished my rehiring process at the YMCA and just subbed a couple classes at Vanderbilt Y last week. I’m also working on getting some good things started in the South Bronx, so if you are an upstate-Manhattanite like me or resident of The Bronx we may have a chance to connect more soon. I’m still at Reflections on 24th Street Tuesday nights and I’ve begun to volunteer teach a gentle class for seniors midtown at Lenox Hill Community House — more info on both of those things below. As always, the best place to stay updated is Yoga with Lisa Devi on Facebook. I would love to hear from you… Let me know how your doing, how your yoga practice is going, if you’ve got any questions or any cute cat memes to share. 😉 See you soon on the mat!
Deep Stretch at Reflections Yoga Join me Tuesday nights from 7-8pm at Reflections Yoga for Deep Stretch, an hour-long unwind from your day. This class is sequenced in such a way that each pose will prepare you for the next and the postures are held long enough for the body to settle down and move more deeply. This class will slowly, steadily, and safely stretch the body, improve your mobility, develop your awareness, and help you relax.

COMING SOON Summer Chill Out: Cooling Down with Forward Folds Summer in New York is a perfect time to get a little deeper in your forward folds. The summer heat helps the muscles to let go so you can make a little headway in your forward bends — Something you can’t always do with that winter chill in your muscles. Join me for this special workshop that will focus on the soothing, cooling and releasing effects of forward folds. Did you know that forward folds can also help to calm the mind? You will also be guided through pranayama breath work intended to settle the nervous system and calm the mind and will finish with a “breezy savasana” that will leave you feeling fully rested and refreshed.
- Save the date: Saturday, August 5th 1:30-3pm at Reflections Yoga
